I do not compromise on the quality of materials that I use on my sewing table. This is something I believe in strongly and will be the foundation for Garrison Packs. I have been asked (without prejudice) by a few customers on the materials I use and I gladly provide them material samples as reference. Almost 80% of all our materials are imported from the USA. I have established a few reliable suppliers who specializes in high quality mil-spec material.
I buy and stock authentic Cordura material in the workshop for customers. In 500D and 1000D, I try to have most of the common colors in stock, readily available to work on customer’s project. However, there are some colors/ patterns that I do not carry at the moment, mostly due to pricing factor.
Authentic Cordura fabric are near to impossible to find in Malaysia. Nearest supplier seems to be in India! As for other materials like zippers, we use YKK brand strictly. They have been around a long time and if the US army uses them, I reckon they will be good enough as a benchmark for Garrison Packs.
One of the biggest challenge is to source for good quality buckles. We looked high and low in Malaysia but no one seems to carry a good range of buckles from brands like ITW, WooJin etc. Hence again, we had to look to the USA for good ones. At the moment of writing, we are still working on a finding a long term supplier. While that is being worked on, we will settle for the much sort after US army repair buckles. They are super awesome and naturally costly as well (due to shipping cost-they are not light).
The quest for high quality materials to complement our workshop and products/ services will be an ongoing task. It is a challenge because they are not commonly available here in Malaysia. This has to be done nevertheless because Garrison Packs is committed to deliver the best to customers.
Oooops…before I forget, here’s Garrison Packs..
WISHING EVERYONE A MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR!
