A few weeks back, a customer approached Garrison Packs to help make him a hybrid Kifaru/ Mystery Ranch pack. He seems to be rather familiar with these big brands . A self professed pack hoarder of sort, he sometimes writes for a Malaysian Prepper blog called www.my-store-room.com
This is a project we would regard as rather ‘big’, since it is a departure from our usual pouches, modifications and repair. It was going to be a pack which he (the customer) describes as a marriage of ‘overbuilding ingenuity’.
The customer wanted to put two of his favorite packs together. The Kifaru Pointman and the Mystery Ranch Tri-Zip. We cautioned him that we do not copy packs but he is adamant that this is not a copy project. So, we sat down with him over breakfast one morning to go through his designs. After much deliberation, we decided that it was a viable project. And this would probably push our capability to the next level.
There were some modifications based on the original design. Mainly the size of the pack will be made is such that it is suitable for everyday use. It does look tactical (the all around Molle- Like Kifaru Pointman) really does give it away. This is probably the most tedious part in making this pack. Sewing on the molle webbing takes time and a lot of patience.
The pack is made in parts and later to be combined stitched to create end product. I will update the blog as we progresses on. This custom project of making a hybrid of a Kifaru Pointman and a Mystery Ranch Trizip I reckon will take a few weeks to complete at the very least.
