A prototype, custom made pouch for a customer
Here are some pictures of a prototype waist pouch we did in 2014 for a customer who represents a major tire brand in Malaysia. An active hardcore 4wd enthusiast who strive to test out gear and develop new ones for his team’s use, this pouch was a brainchild of his (hence we cannot publish too much details). It is a waist pouch, a cross sling pouch and has a number of pockets and other features we think are really cool.
The customer’s intention was to come up with a good, practical design, test and refine it and then hopefully get it manufactured offshore to volume so that he can outfit his 4WD club with them. If the design and project is approved, we are talking about hundreds, and possibly thousands being made. As much as we would love to take up the project, its just not feasible for us at that moment.
We made and tested with variety of ‘adapters’ for the system
Our customer requested for nothing short of the very best in terms on materials used. He reckons, it needs to be strong to take the punish that he and his team put their gear through on hard core expeditions. So, we used our best materials for all aspects of the pouch. Even the military spec buckles were specially ordered for this job.
Work in progress for a rather ‘complicated’ pouch to built
This particular pouch was a rather challenging job to complete. It had dimensions, pockets, slots and closures that needed a lot of trial and error for us. We totally enjoyed the learning curve completing this project. At the end of it, the customer was really happy with it. A few months later, we still hear from him about the pouch, giving us some feedback on how and what sort of other changes he may want to develop further to improve the pouch.
We cannot ask for more really. A customer who comes up with his own design and later brutally fields tests the gear he designed (and we built) is pure awesomeness. We hope he has managed to push to mass produce the pouch and equip his club members with his idea of the perfect custom made waist pouch for a hardcore 4WD enthusiasts in the jungles of Malaysia.
